Films to Watch Out For in 2021

The year 2020 has been anything but good for the film industry. COVID-19 has forced cinemas to close and has caused film productions to halt temporarily. This 2021, though, film producers are beginning to see light, especially with the news about the efficacy of the vaccine circulating around the globe. The pandemic has also made a huge impact on how movies are to be released, with many studios adapting to the new normal and releasing films through modern means, such as streaming as they hit theaters. The feasibility of this route is yet to be seen, but 2021 looks promising for the entertainment and movie industry. ;

With releases from some major players like Steven Spielberg, Wes Anderson, and Marvel, year 2021 might be just a great year for moviegoers and movie producers alike.

The Passion of the Christ: The Resurrection

A sequel to the movie Passion of the Christ, which was a hit back in 2014, this movie provides a breather to people who are looking forward to getting inspiration as the pandemic continues. The Passion of the Christ: The Resurrection is only one of several faith-based films that will be released this 2021. Other movies with a spiritual undertone that moviegoers can look forward to are Redeeming Love, Jesus Revolution, and Unbreakable Boy to name a few. Non-religious people and Christians will surely find motivation as world news continues to report the effects of the pandemic.

No Time To Die

This James Bond movie was supposed to be released on Nov. 8, 2019 but was met with a number of unfortunate events. This 25th installment of the James Bond series was developed in 2016, but directors who were approached to direct the movie refused due to varied reasons. These include Christopher Nolan, Dennis Villeneuve, Sam Mendez, and many others. Sam Mendez was the director of the James Bond franchises Skyfall and Spectre. In February 2018, Danny Boyle accepted the offer to direct the movie, but he also bailed out in August 2018 due to creative differences. It was September 2018 when the movie finally had a director in the person of Cary Joji Fukunaga. Despite this development, the movie was still stalled due to injuries incurred by the main cast and crew member during filming.  Then, the pandemic hit, which further delayed its release. This 2021, this movie will finally see light. No Time To Die is set to be the last James Bond movie for Daniel Craig who plays the main character. The movie will be shown in April.

A Quiet Place Part 2

Who wouldn’t remember this blockbuster from 2018? Set for release in April 23, A Quiet Place Part 2 will again chill the bones of moviegoers as the Abbot family ventures out of their home to seek safety only to find out that more horrors await them in the outside world.

Black Widow

We may have all mourned for the death of Black Widow in the Avengers: Endgame, but this new movie will take us back in time with Natasha Romanoff. Here, Natasha returns home after her adventures in Captain America: Civil War, only to deal with the family problem that she had left behind years ago. We may all be looking forward to great news amid the world crisis we are all facing now, but the intense action and story-telling that come with this movie will certainly glue us on our seats on May 7, 2021.

Top Gun: Maverick

Tom Cruise made a huge following after his movie Top Gun was released in cinemas in 1986. Today, after 34 years, Cruise comes back to reprise his role as Pete Michelle, a US naval aviator who was both excellent and dangerous with his wild flying style. In Top Gun: Maverick, Cruise’s character is as confident and wild as ever. But his resolve is shaken with the arrival of Goose’s sun and a dangerous mission. The movie is set to play in theaters on July 2, 2021.

King Richard

Fans of Will Smith will again see the actor show his superb acting skills in this intriguing rags-to-riches underdog movie. King Richard is a story about Richard Williams and how he brought up world champions in tennis, namely the world-renowned Venus and Serena Williams.

Fast and Furious 9

The adventures of Dominic and his family continue as they face off a deadly assassin who was Dominic’s brother. Han makes a reappearance in this film, which is great news for the fans of the series. Fast and Furious 9 was set for release in 2020 but was delayed due to the pandemic. This year, the movie will finally see light in April 2.

Although theaters may still be not 100% operational, streaming may prove to be an awesome alternative. People are already tired of the pandemic and its effects: having not only one awesome movie to watch will definitely be a great respite from all the negative things that happened in the previous year.
